Less Is More Valuable In the Age of AI

Edit Page

It’s all too easy to copy-paste large passages of AI generated contents, sloppy or not, directly to human readers.

Everyone knows how to ask an AI. When someone asks you a question, they don’t need you acting as a lossy interpreter between them and the AI. Using AI generated contents is absolutely fine. The key to make your content stand out is the effort to summarize AI contents for another human.

Compared to AI articles, high-quality, human-written contents have lower entropy, meaning they have a higher information density.

Lower entropy is undoubtedly a good thing for readers, the internet, and the universe.

Reducing entropy requires greater effort. This reflects true respect and intelligence.

I don’t like reading long blocks of text, whether they’re blogs, documents or Slack messages. If I spend more than three seconds reading a passage without gaining any new information, I tend to lose focus.

All tedious stuff is annoying, but AI nonsense is especially irritating. On the other hand, consuming content carefully crafted by humans is delightful because I can get more information in less time. Memes are a perfect example. They’re concise, impactful, and humorous.

It’s more valuable to keep your output brief than at length.
